Bradfordville Dog Park — 6808 Beech Ridge Trail, Tallahassee, FL 32312
In November of 2019, Leon County opened its first dog park. The Bradfordville Dog Park—also known as one of the two Leon County Dog Parks—is near the Bradfordville Community Center, just 10 miles northeast of downtown Tallahassee.
This 13-acre dog park is the largest off-leash dog park in Leon County. It has designated areas for both small and large dogs.
It does have a retention pond—for storm runoff—inside the fenced-in area with brush surrounding it. It can be tempting for your pup to fight through the brush to get to the pond, but we don’t recommend that due to the nature of the pond. The water might not be suitable for your dog, and there could be some not-so-nice creatures living there.
As cities work to get creative and add space for humans and their canines, there could be more circumstances like this. Just be aware and appreciative of the areas provided, and do your best to protect your dog from its natural instincts.
Tom Brown Dog Park — 501 Easterwood Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32311
Tom Brown Dog Park is in the southeast corner of Tom Brown Park. This off-leash dog park is one of the most popular parks in the Tallahassee area—partially because it’s just off Capital Circle on the east side of town.
Tom Brown Park is a 255-acre park with a disc golf course, walking trails, and various nature trails for you and your leashed pup. But if you want to let them romp around, you’ll be pleased with the dog park. There are two separate off-leash areas for large and small dogs. It has mature trees in the larger dog enclosure and smaller trees in the small-breed dog enclosure.
Tom Brown Dog Park has water fountains, spigots, kiddie pools, and dog waste stations. The kiddie pools appear to be multifaceted for the pet parents who frequent them here. They can be used for hydration and play, and it’s handy that the water can be swapped out when it gets dirty. This is truly one of the best cared-for parks in the Tallahassee area. This park is open 365 days a year, from sunrise to sunset.
Park Avenue Dog Park — 200-298 W Park Ave, Tallahassee, FL 32399
Located in the downtown area of Tallahassee, Park Avenue Dog Park keeps its neighborhood canines happy with room to run. This park is right in downtown Old City. So if you are out with your pup and looking for a place to romp around before or after a meal, this could be a great option.
It is on the smaller side, but it is fenced-in, gated, and has a lot of mature shade trees. There is some seating outside of the fenced-in area.
J. Lee Vause Dog Park — 6024 Old Bainbridge Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32303
J. Lee Vause Dog Park—the second of the two Leon County Dog Parks—is 10 miles north of downtown on the west side of Lake Jackson. This dog park is a 1.5-acre fenced-in area among the trees for good shade and quality grass. Here you’ll find a drinking fountain for humans and canines, a log tunnel, canine agility equipment, and benches for the humans.
Overall this park is well-kept and well-loved by the regulars. It seems to be less busy than some of the other dog parks in the region. Park hours are sunrise to sunset.
Lake Ella and Fred Drake Park — S Lake Ella Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32303
This charming park not only offers scenic walking paths and picnic spots but also welcomes leashed dogs. Dogs will love strolling around the picturesque lake, observing ducks and turtles. Pet owners can enjoy various events hosted at the park throughout the year, such as the farmer's market.
San Luis Mission Dog Park — 1560 San Luis Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32304
Only a few miles from downtown, you’ll find a dog park inside San Luis Mission Park. If you look at a map of the park, you’ll notice San Luis Dog Park is on the east side of the park near Lake Esther.
Before mentioning the dog park, we have to brag about how great this park is to walk your pup. You can get a ton of steps just walking the trails and taking in the views. With boardwalks and numerous trails, you could easily spend the day here.
As for the dog park—it’s a large fenced-in area with water fountains for humans and canines, pet waste stations, and benches. Please note there is not a separate run for small dogs. The hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
All Saints Dog Park — 810 S Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32301
All Saints Dog Park is another example of Tallahassee taking pet parents into consideration as it grows. In the All Saints area of downtown, this dog park might not be the biggest, but it helps pet parents in the area get their dogs some exercise. If you find yourself downtown, you’ll certainly appreciate this park.
All Saints Dog Park is a small fenced-in gravel dog run under the canopy of mature trees. This park has pet waste stations and water fountains for humans and canines. And outside of the park, there are some benches for humans to watch their furbabies run and play.
Governor's Park — 700 N Blair Stone Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32301
Nestled at the intersection of Blair Stone Road and Suwannee Street, Governor's Park offers a well-maintained and peaceful environment for dog walking. The park features paved pathways, beautiful landscaping, and shaded benches where you can relax while your furry friend explores. Water fountains for both people and dogs ensure everyone stays hydrated during their visit.Lafayette Heritage Trail Park — 4900 Heritage Park Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32311
Lafayette Heritage Trail Park isn’t an off-leash park, but there are plenty of things for humans and canines to do together. With plenty of miles that are 80% tree-covered, you and your furry best friend can take weeks to explore the park.
In addition to the hiking trails, they have a paddling trail. While not all dogs enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding, you might be surprised at how many dogs really love it—once they get used to it. This could be another great way to build a connection with your furbaby.
Southwood Dog Park — 4675 Grove Park Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32311
Situated within the Southwood Community, this dog park is a hidden gem for residents and visitors alike. It boasts separate fenced areas for small and large dogs, along with ample shade and seating options for pet parents. The park's clean and well-maintained grounds, along with its friendly community atmosphere, make it a preferred spot for socializing pups.
