Dog Groomer - Hiring Incentive

Hopefully you are the friendly and compassionate mobile groomer we’ve been looking for. Here’s how we’ll know. When you were a kid, did you like to dress up your dogs? Or maybe your cat? Were you the first kid on your block to put a ponytail in your dog’s hair? That’s a good sign! Maybe you like to do some crazy things with your own hair because appearance is just another form of expression and it’s just plain fun. 

First of all, well done. Every dog looks better with a ponytail, a hat, a barrette, a necklace, a jacket, or at least a bandana. Secondly, your creative personality is just what we need.

ABOUT US

Backyard Pet Grooming is a mobile pet grooming service based in McKinney, Texas. We are crazy about excellence in everything we do. Our groomers deliver outstanding baths and haircuts, mostly for dogs (but also a few cats). We do take on new clients (we’re growing), but most of our clients are regular, happy and loyal, which means you get to build great relationships with your pet and human clients alike. It’s a joyous reunion every time you roll up in the driveway, which we think is awesome.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We provide the van and the supplies. You provide the magic. We deep-clean the van (frequently), and you keep it sparkling day-to-day.  We answer the phone and schedule the appointments -- with an eye to keeping a good balance between small vs. big dogs, keeping drive times short, and keeping your hours lined up with your preferences.  

You should like creating your own work environment – whether that includes music, singing, talking, podcasts, or audiobooks. It’s up to you to set the tone in your salon.  You should like people as well as pets and have a knack for bringing brightness into the day. A big plus if you’re the kind of person whose pantry has all the labels facing the same direction: your van is going to be an organized machine.

This full-time position will be responsible for:

• Getting the day started on the right foot: right van readiness, right time, right supplies. 
• Getting to know and love your customers and their pets
• Doing over-the-top, gorgeous work with the goal of having your customer say “that’s the best groom my dog has ever had” every single time. 
• Making crazy cute videos for TicTok and social media (we’ll even help you plan and produce these)
• Encouraging customers to enjoy their grooming experience and even try something new
• Contributing ideas on how things can run even better because that’s just how we are. 
• Attending marketing events, contributing to blogs, and participating in our podcast. 
• Helping us plan and have some fun together (dog park parties, pumpkin painting, holiday parties, craft night, weekly breakfasts and more). 
• Finishing up the day and setting your salon up for a great start tomorrow. 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE

• Certification and a minimum of 3+ years of experience as a groomer
• A portfolio that shows flair, exquisite work and mastery of basic pattern cuts
• Your own tools and a mania for keeping these clean and in perfect repair
• A desire to be part of an all-star team who brings on the fun and celebrates all things quirky 
• A love for building great processes and continually improving them. 
• An objectively great personality and a love for … other objectively great personalities.
