Position:

Canine Exercise and Enrichment Provider


Urban Trotters is seeking a dependable individual to join our team as a Canine Exercise and Enrichment Provider. In this role, you will work directly with clients' dogs, providing them with physical and mental exercise in a patient, encouraging, and energetic manner. This is a 1099-NEC Independent Contractor position.

Compensation

$200 - $300 per week 


Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Canine Exercise and Enrichment Provider, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of dogs during each visit
  • Engaging in physical exercise and mental stimulation activities with clients' dogs
  • Drying or wiping down dogs in wet and/or muddy weather conditions
  • Cleaning up after dogs, including handling dog waste, spills, and maintaining cleanliness of the premises
  • Completing visit reports after each visit
  • Capturing photos of clients' dogs for visit reports
  • Properly securing clients' homes upon departure
  • Recording videos using a body-mounted camera and delivering them to the business owner

Working Conditions:

You will primarily work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout all four seasons.


Job Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Availability between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • Reliable vehicle transportation with active car insurance
  • Functional smartphone with reliable data service
  • Proficient time management skills
  • Minimum of 1 year of working with dogs in a professional setting 
  • Knowledge in positive dog training methods, including an understanding of how dogs learn 


Physical Requirements:

The role of a Canine Exercise and Enrichment Provider involves the following physical demands:

  • Walking for extended periods, covering distances up to 5+ miles per day
  • Varying speeds of walking or jogging repetitively
  • Squatting, kneeling, or bending at the waist repetitively
  • Physically restraining dogs weighing 100 lbs or more

In addition to the previously mentioned requirements, candidates for the open position at Urban Trotters must possess a solid background knowledge and practical experience using positive dog training methods. This includes a deep understanding of how dogs learn and the ability to effectively apply reward-based training techniques. Applicants should be adept at using positive reinforcement to foster desired behaviors and address challenging situations. Proficiency in adapting training approaches based on canine behavior principles is highly valued.
